Mileage allowance has finally increased for drivers using their own car for work.

The Chancellor has confirmed the HMRC approved mileage allowance will rise from 45p per mile to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles.

Martin Lewis called it a “really important change” after the rate had been frozen since 2011 despite rising fuel, insurance and servicing costs.

Example:
8,000 business miles previously = £3,600 allowance
Now = £4,400 allowance

That’s an extra £800 tax-free support for many drivers using their vehicle for work.
