Car Finance & Part Exchange Explained | Woodson Cars Manchester

Clear, Simple Guide to Finance & Part Exchange at Woodson Cars

Buying your next car shouldn't feel complicated.

Whether you're trading in your current vehicle, arranging finance or doing both, our aim is to make the process clear, transparent and straightforward from start to finish.

Here's exactly how it works.

Step 1 – Tell Us About Your Current Vehicle

If you're part exchanging your current car, we'll ask for:

  • Registration number
  • Current mileage
  • Service history
  • Condition
  • Number of keys
  • Any outstanding finance

Photos and videos can also help us provide a more accurate initial valuation.

Step 2 – We Value Your Vehicle

We don't simply guess a value.

Our valuations consider:

  • Current market demand
  • Live trade values
  • Retail market trends
  • Vehicle condition
  • Service history
  • Specification and options
  • Previous repairs or damage
  • Outstanding finance (if applicable)

If you're happy with the valuation, your part exchange can be used towards your next vehicle.

Step 3 – Choose Your Finance Option

Our finance specialists will explain the available options in plain English.

Depending on your circumstances, this may include:

Hire Purchase (HP)

  • Fixed monthly payments
  • Own the vehicle once the agreement ends (subject to any option to purchase fee where applicable)
  • Terms typically from 24 to 84 months

Personal Contract Purchase (PCP)

Available on selected vehicles where offered by participating lenders.

This may provide:

  • Lower monthly payments
  • Optional final payment
  • Flexible end-of-agreement choices

Understanding Your Monthly Payments

Your monthly payment is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Vehicle price
  • Deposit or part exchange
  • Finance term
  • APR offered by the lender
  • Your individual credit profile

Representative examples are provided for illustration only. Your personalised finance offer will depend on your individual circumstances and lender assessment.

Bad Credit? You May Still Have Options

Having a lower credit score doesn't always mean finance isn't available.

We work with a panel of lenders who consider a range of circumstances, including customers who:

  • Have a limited credit history
  • Have experienced previous credit difficulties
  • Are self-employed
  • Receive variable income
  • Have recently changed employment

Every application is assessed individually by the lender.

Soft Search Available on Selected Finance Products

Where available, some lenders allow an initial soft credit search, helping you explore finance options before a full application is made.

Your finance specialist will explain if this is available for your chosen lender and product.
